Use {n} for the number and {total} for the page count. Arabic text is supported (renders with an embedded Arabic font; digits switch to Arabic-Indic inside Arabic text for a clean, extractable text layer).

Limits & notes

  • Latin formats render with Helvetica; Arabic-Indic numerals (١٢٣) and Arabic text in a custom format render with an embedded subset of IBM Plex Sans Arabic — the output keeps a real, extractable text layer (verified with two independent readers; pypdf may drop the very last glyph of a long Arabic footer).
  • Digits inside a custom Arabic format are shown as Arabic-Indic (١٢٣) — matching the surrounding text and keeping the text layer consistent.
  • The document's original content is not modified; numbers are added on top.
