Compress PDF

Shrink PDF files with two honest modes. Lossless re-packs the document and keeps text, links and form fields exactly as they are. Strong compression rasterizes every page into an optimized image for maximum savings — be aware: the result has NO searchable or selectable text, NO clickable links, NO form fields and no bookmarks. If a mode cannot beat the original size, you get your original file back.

How to use

  1. Add the PDF

    Choose the file to optimize.

  2. Pick a mode

Lossless keeps text, links and forms; strong mode turns pages into images and drops all three — pick it only when a much smaller file matters more.

  3. Compress & download

Check the savings percentage, then download.

Supported formats

  • Input: PDF
  • Output: PDF

Limits & notes

  • Strong mode rasterizes every page into an image: searchable text, links, form fields and bookmarks are all lost in the output — this IS lossy.
  • Strong mode is limited to 150 pages per run.
  • If compression would make the file larger, the original is returned unchanged.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly do I lose with strong compression?
Everything that makes a PDF more than a picture: searchable/selectable text, clickable links, fillable form fields and bookmarks. Each page becomes a JPEG image inside a PDF. Use strong mode only when the smaller size is worth losing those.
Why is my file barely smaller in lossless mode?
Many PDFs are already optimized. Lossless compression only removes structural overhead; use strong mode if you need a much smaller file and can accept pages as images.
