Frequently asked questions
What is the Jackson-Pollock 3-site method?
It is a skinfold-based method to estimate body density and body fat percentage using three skinfold sites. For men, the sites are chest, abdomen, and thigh; for women, they are triceps, suprailiac, and thigh.
How accurate is this calculator?
The method has an error of about ±3.5% body fat compared to hydrostatic weighing. Accuracy depends on measurement technique and individual variability.
Can I use this calculator if I am very muscular?
The equations may underestimate body fat in very muscular individuals because they are based on general population data. Consider other methods like DEXA for more accuracy.
