Frequently asked questions
How accurate is UTIQO's unit converter?
All factors are stored as exact ratios derived from SI, NIST and international legal definitions (for example 1 in = 0.0254 m and 1 lb = 0.45359237 kg exactly). Calculations use high-precision decimal arithmetic rather than binary floating point.
Are my conversions sent to a server?
No. The converter runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is uploaded or stored remotely.
Why do some conversions show an approximate symbol?
Conversions that use irrational constants (like degrees to radians via π) or context-dependent definitions (such as ingredient densities or calendar years) are mathematically derived and are marked accordingly.
What is the difference between GB and GiB?
GB uses decimal SI prefixes: 1 GB = 1 000 000 000 bytes. GiB uses the IEC binary prefixes: 1 GiB = 1 073 741 824 bytes. UTIQO keeps them separate so storage sizes are never silently mixed.
Can I convert cooking volumes to grams?
Only with an ingredient. UTIQO asks you to select the ingredient (density) first and clearly labels mass–volume cooking results as approximate, because cup packing and moisture vary.
