What is wind chill?

Wind chill is the perceived decrease in air temperature felt by the body on exposed skin due to the flow of air. It is not the actual air temperature but an apparent temperature that accounts for the increased rate of heat loss from the body.

Why is wind chill not calculated for temperatures above 10°C?

The standard wind chill formula is only valid for temperatures at or below 10°C. At higher temperatures, the cooling effect of wind is less significant and other factors like humidity become more important, so the formula is not applied.

What does the risk level mean?

The risk level indicates the potential for frostbite on exposed skin. 'Low risk' means minimal danger, 'Moderate risk' means frostbite is possible with prolonged exposure, 'High risk' means frostbite can occur in under 30 minutes, and 'Extreme' means frostbite can occur in minutes.
