About this calculator

The Gas Mileage Calculator helps drivers determine their vehicle's fuel economy in miles per gallon (MPG) and fuel consumption in litres per 100 kilometres (L/100 km) based on the distance driven and the amount of fuel used. It is a practical tool for monitoring vehicle efficiency, planning trips, and comparing fuel usage across different

How to use

  1. 1

Enter the distance driven in the 'Distance driven' field and select 'Miles' or 'Kilometers'.

  2. 2

Enter the fuel used in the 'Fuel used' field and select 'Gallons (US)' or 'Litres'.

  3. 3

Click calculate to see your fuel economy in MPG and fuel consumption in L/100 km.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between MPG and L/100 km?

MPG (miles per gallon) measures how many miles a vehicle can travel on one US gallon of fuel; higher is better. L/100 km (litres per 100 kilometres) measures how many litres of fuel are needed to travel 100 kilometres; lower is better. They are inversely related.

Why does the calculator use US gallons?

The calculator uses US gallons as the default because it is a common unit in the United States. One US gallon equals 3.785412 litres. If you use imperial gallons, the result will differ.

Can I use this calculator for any vehicle?

Yes, you can use it for any vehicle as long as you know the distance driven and the fuel used. It is suitable for cars, trucks, motorcycles, and even bicycles with a fuel source.
